You’ll be able to hunt for the perfect picture of the elusive “Big 5” like elephants and rhinos and feel the ground tremble as you approach the magnificent Victoria Falls. Enjoy an intriguing combination of stunning wilderness and bright city lights, gaining a unique perspective of this majestic land. Gaze out from the top of Table Mountain. Explore the tip of the continent at the Cape of Good Hope. Make new friends during a home hosted dinner. Search out legendary wildlife and cruise the remote Chobe River. Day 1 – Wednesday, October 14 – Overnight Flight
Epic scenery, winding coastlines, remarkable cultural diversity and abundant wildlife come together in an incredible experience.
Day 2 – Thursday, October 15 – Cape Town, South Africa- Tour Begins
Welcome to the beautiful harborside city of Cape Town. Its architecture fuses French, German and Dutch traditions which sets the stage for a thrilling cultural journey. Upon arrival into Cape Town, enjoy the remainder of the day relaxing and getting to know this wonderful city.
Day 3 – Friday, October 16 – Cape Town
We start this morning with an Amazing Journeys Welcome and Orientation. Then, step aboard a cable car that whisks you to an altitude of more than 3,000 feet atop Table Mountain. Gaze at the astounding view of Cape Town, Robben Island and Lion’s Head. Return to the city via Table Bay, passing through the Moorish Malay Quarter on a panoramic tour, pausing along the way at Milnerton Lighthouse. Spend the remainder of your afternoon at leisure. You may choose to explore charming Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, known for its shopping and entertainment venues. Be sure to stop by the local craft market for some hidden gems. Tonight we enjoy Shabbat together. Then, savor a true African dining experience. Explore the traditional art of African drumming before you sample sixteen local delicacies. (B, D)
Day 4 – Saturday, October 17 – Cape Town
Travel out to Cape Point on the southwestern tip of Africa. Along the way, marvel at the coastal scenery and pleasant towns that populate the Cape Peninsula. Listen to the tales behind the numerous ship wrecks which attest to the treacherous nature of these waters. Come to know the Cape of Good Hope and take a tram to the top of the mountain. Enjoy a leisurely hike down. Next you are off to Boulder Beach to see the penguins who call it home. Later this evening, make some new South African friends during a home-hosted dinner. Sit down with a local family and learn about their daily life. Perhaps you’ll share stories from your own experiences. (B, D)
Day 5 – Sunday, October 18 – Cape Town – Hermanus
Travel along the coast to the charming seaside village of Hermanus. Arrive at a winery for a tasting before enjoying lunch pared with wine. Relax with some leisure time at the hotel where you may choose to enjoy a spa treatment or simply kick back at the pool. (B, L)
Day 6 – Monday, October 19 – Hermanus Region
Spend a free day exploring the Hermanus Region. Perhaps you’ll choose to opt for a thrilling great white shark experience! (B)
Day 7 – Tuesday, October 20 – Hermanus – Entabeni Conservancy
Fly to the city of Johannesburg. Upon arrival head to the Entabeni Conservancy. Bringing together multiple ecosystems, the Entabeni Conservancy (The Place of the Mountain) is one of the most biologically diverse regions in all of South Africa. Gather with your fellow travelers for a thrilling adventure. Those who have been will tell you to “have your cameras ready” as you search for lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard and rhino (aka “the Big Five”). Perhaps you’ll spot one of the great cats preparing to hunt. Game drives, walking safaris and air tours are among the most popular ways to enjoy the rugged rock formations, soaring cliffs and wide open grass plains found in this special place. This afternoon, we gather for a game drive. As the sun sets enjoy a traditional African sun downer. Get out of your 4×4 for a cocktail as the sun drops behind the mountains. Keep your eyes peeled for the great cats preparing to hunt. Return to the lodge for dinner under the stars. (B, D)
Day 8 – Wednesday, October 21 – Entabeni Conservancy
Rise before the sun and set out on a game drive. Enjoy coffee and tea in the bush before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Later, learn to follow the clues left by wildlife during a track identification walk with a ranger. After you have worked up an appetite, take time for a leisurely lunch in the gardens. In the late afternoon, continue your quest for the Big Five during another exciting game drive. (B, L, D)
Day 9 – Thursday, October 22 – Entabeni Conservancy – Johannesburg
Carry on your quest for the Big Five before breakfast. Later, travel to the vibrant city of Johannesburg. Along the way, our tour manager helps you discover the history of the local languages. A guided tour of Soweto – South West Township – showcases luxurious mansions and informal settlements. (B)
Day 10 – Friday, October 23 – Johannesburg – Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Fly to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Visit a local village to learn more about the regional culture. Embark upon a walking tour of stunning Victoria Falls. Later, enjoy a sundowner poolside and the spectacular African sunset while the animals gather at the watering hole. (B, D)
Day 11 – Saturday, October 24 – Victoria Falls
Early this morning depart on an elephant back safari and a chance to meet African elephants up close. Continue on to explore a local craft market before having some free time at the lodge. Reflect on your surroundings as you relax overlooking the wildlife watering hole. (B)
Day 12 – Sunday, October 25 – Victoria Falls – Chobe, Botswana
Watch for bushbuck as well as bird life during a nature walk with a local guide. Cross the border as you travel to Chobe, Botswana. An exciting safari cruise awaits. Spot wildlife along the water’s edge find hippos swimming along the shores and crocodiles basking in the sun. (B, L, D)
Day 13 – Monday, October 26 – Chobe
Today features morning and afternoon game drives in the one-of-a-kind Chobe National Park. View the animals as they drink from the river. This evening enjoy an Amazing Journeys Farewell dinner by the river, hosted by a chef who will teach you the art of cooking a traditional Braai (barbeque) complete with some local favorites such as game meat and other local specialties. Day 14 – Tuesday, October 27 – Chobe – Johannesburg – Tour Ends
Fly to Johannesburg where our tour ends. From here, you will take your international flight home. (B)

International or domestic airfare is not included in the tour rate. Flight packages are available as follows. Passengers must select one option:
A) International Flight Package: Includes air from JFK, Intra-African flights, airport transfers and taxes: $2550
B) Intra-African Flight Package: Includes 3 Intra-African flights and taxes: $1290 (transfer in Cape Town is additional $50)
Business class for international flights may be available at an upgraded rate upon request. Airfares are subject to change until airline tickets are purchased.
All rooms are non-smoking where we match roommates. Items listed on this website are subject to change at any time. By providing payment you agree to the terms and conditions as outlined on this website.
Cancellation Policy: From the time of deposit until April 1, 2015, there is a $100.00 penalty for cancellation. From April 2 – August 5, 2015, the cancellation penalty is $2,750. From August 6 – September 8, 2015, the cancellation penalty is 50% of the total package price, including airfare. From September 9, 2015 until the day of travel, the cancellation penalty is 100% of the total package price, including airfare. Cancellations made on the day of departure and “no-shows” will receive no refund. There is no refund in the event of interruption or cancellation by the passenger after the start of the journey.
Cancellation insurance: Cancellation insurance is recommended. Information will be sent with your tour confirmation.
Taxes, Service Charges, Government Fees and Gratuities: All taxes, service charges and government fees have been included in the cost of the tour package and airline tickets. At this time, there are no departure taxes. Gratuities have been included on this itinerary for included features. They include tips for drivers and guides, safari guides, game lodges, tour manager, servers for included meals, and baggage handling in and out of each hotel. Taxes, service charges and government fees are subject to change.
Flights and Transfers: International or domestic airfare is not included in the tour rate.
Passport and Visa Requirements: A valid passport is required for travel to Africa. It must have at least 6 months validity beyond the last date of travel. A visa is required for Zimbabwe. The cost is approximately $45 for US citizens, $150 for Canadian citizens. Visas are available upon arrival into each country in US cash. All passengers must have a minimum of 4 blank visa pages in total in their passport. This is required for the visa stamp for entry into each country. Page must state the word “visa” and not “endorsement” at the top of the page. For South Africa, two side-by-side blank visa pages must be available in the passport. If your passport does not have enough pages, you will either have to get additional pages put in your passport or get a new one prior to the tour. No photos are necessary. Subject to change.
