Iguazu Falls National Park is a magical place and was recently voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature and will leave every visitor speechless. Imagine standing a few yards away from an impressive mass of water, a total of 275 falls dropping over 230 feet! Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) is the most impressive waterfall, where the falling water gives the illusion of magical rainbows. The National Park is full of exotic subtropical vegetation surrounding the falls – several plant species with giant trees, ferns, lianas and orchids, 400 species of colorful birds (toucans, parrots, woodpeckers, humming birds and butterflies, all with fascinating vivid colors and designs) and wildlife such as jaguar, tiger-cat, foxes, tapir and monkeys. Iguazu National Park was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will love extending your vacation to see this amazing destination before hiking in Patagonia.

Welcome to Iguazu Falls! Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and taken to our hotel, located inside of the National Park. Thursday, January 24 – Iguazu Falls, Brazil
Today we will have the opportunity to cross over into Brazil and into the National Park for more spectacular views of the waterfalls. Walk along the paths following cascades and then walk along the catwalk that leads very close to the bottom of the Devil’s Throat. You will be impressed by the panoramic views of the falls like the Two Sisters, Bozzeti, Superior Circuit and San Martin Island, where the movie “The Mission” was filmed. The promenade shows a complete and panoramic view of the falls. Enjoy lunch at the beautiful Belcond Das Cataratas Hotel located inside the National Park. Later, we’ll experience the Macuco Safari. Travel the Macuco Trail in a rustic, open wagon, which allows an unhindered view of the voluptuous jungle in its entire splendor. The guides narrate some of the stories, marvels and mysteries of the subtropical forest surrounded by orchids and butterflies. Walk down the Iguazú Canyon Trail, visiting the picturesque Macuco Falls; penetrate the Brazilian jungle on foot to have a more intimate contact with nature. Shoot the rapids in the Iguazú Canyon from secure open boats (mild rapids). Feel the same emotion as the first pioneers felt on discovering this untouched wild area! We’ll have some free time to enjoy the falls and all of their splendor. Later, we head back to Argentina. (B, L)
Friday, January 25 – Iguazu Falls, Argentina
After breakfast, we’ll see the Argentinean National Park. We’ll arrive at the Visitors Center and board a gas-propelled train at the main station, which takes us to the upper falls circuit and the Devil’s Throat (Garganta del Diablo), the most prominent and one of the highest falls. Enjoy the scenic lookout point resting on the side of the gorgeous Devil’s Throat. Then, we’ll have the opportunity to walk nearly two miles along the Iguazu River Canyon, via the lower circuit and the upper circuit to enjoy the flora and fauna. You will have the opportunity to feel the rush of water as you see the nearly 270 individual waterfalls up close. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to take in the beauty of the falls or partake in an optional excursion. (B)
