Day 1 – Saturday, July 16 – Zurich – Tour Begins
Arrive in Zurich this morning and make your way to our group hotel for the start of our Amazing Journey through Switzerland. This afternoon, meet your fellow travelers for our official Welcome and Orientation. After, we’ll meet our guide and enjoy a tour of the city. As a “metropolis of experiences” by the water, with a magnificent view of the snowcapped Alps on the horizon, Zürich offers a unique mixture of attractions – over 50 museums and more than 100 art galleries, international fashion labels and Zürich designs, and the most flamboyant and lively nightlife in Switzerland. This evening, we’ll enjoy a cruise on Lake Zurich, followed by a group dinner. (D)
Day 2 – Sunday, July 17 – Zurich – Rhein Falls – Lucerne
After a group breakfast, we’ll check out of the hotel and head to Lucerne, nestled in the alps. Along the way, we’ll stop at Rhein Falls in Neuhausen. Here, we’ll discover Europe’s largest waterfall, as we travel by boat and stand above it, feeling the roar of the rushing water. Arriving in the city of Lucerne, we’ll see why this city is one of the most scenic in Switzerland. Situated on Lake Lucerne, it is surrounded by an impressive mountain panorama. The famous covered medieval Chapel Bridge forms the centerpiece of Lucerne’s townscape and is considered to be one of the oldest covered wooden bridges in all of Europe. This evening, we’ll experience the local culture with a folkloric show and dinner. (B, D)
Day 3 – Monday, July 18 – Lucerne – Golden Round Trip – Lucerne
This morning, we are in for a treat as we take in the beauty of the alps. Experience Lucerne’s landmark mountain on the Golden Round Trip – an excursion involving hiking, a cog railway and a panoramic gondola and aerial cableways. After hiking up from Kriens, we’ll embark on a spectacular ride on the world’s steepest cog railway to reach the Pilatus Kulm Station at an altitude of nearly 7,000 feet. Upon arrival at Pilatus top station, you will be amazed by the panoramic views of the Alps and Lucerne region! Have a walk around at the top to admire the splendors of Switzerland. As an added bonus, we will be treating you to a group yodeling lesson! Our lunch will be included as we enjoy a typical Swiss meal at the top at Restaurant Pilatus Kulm. After lunch, we’ll take the aerial and panorama gondola cableways down to Kriens, where our bus will bring us back to Lucerne. We’ll have the rest of the afternoon and evening free at leisure to walk around the city, shop and enjoy dinner on your own. (B, L)
Day 4 – Tuesday, July 19 – Lucerne – Brunnen Village – Interlaken
This morning, we’ll leave the town of Lucerne and drive to the nearby village of Brunnen. Here, we’ll learn about the village before visiting the famous Swiss Army Knife Victorinox Visitor Center, where the company was founded in 1884. After, we’ll board a train that will take us to Interlaken on an unforgettable journey right into the heart of Switzerland. This two-hour ride will take you along the shores of crystal-clear lakes, past romantic waterfalls and over the magnificent Brünig Mountain Pass. After experiencing some of the most spectacular views the Swiss Alps have to offer, we’ll arrive in Interlaken. Enjoy the rest of the day and the evening at leisure. (B)
Day 5 – Wednesday, July 20 – Interlaken – Jungraujoch – Interlaken
Today is a magical day as we take in the sights and sounds that is Switzerland. We begin with a visit to the beautiful Trummelbach Falls, Europe’s largest subterranean waterfall. Located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, often called the valley of 72 waterfalls, it will be a sight to experience. Board the famous Jungfrau Railway, which leads through the heart of the mountains and up to the highest train station in Europe (at over 11,000 feet above sea level), offering unbelievable views of the mountain giants Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, and of the longest river of ice in the Alps. Upon our arrival at the top, we will have some free time to enjoy the view. Lunch is included at Gletscher Restaurant “Top of Europe”. Take the lift to the peak with its observatory and the famous observation platform, enjoying a magnificent view of the mountains and the Aletsch Glacier. Enjoy the Ice Palace and Museum. We’ll descend back to Grund Station and back to our hotel where we’ll have some free time in Interlaken before dinner. Tonight, we’ll ride a cable car where we will be treated to a sunset dinner at the panoramic restaurant Harder Kulm. The restaurant looks like a small castle, and it is located 4,300 above sea level. Enjoy the sunset in front of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains and an impressive panorama of Interlaken and the surrounding area. (B, L, D)
Day 6 – Thursday, July 21 – Interlaken – Bern – Montreux
This morning, we drive to the city of Bern where we’ll enjoy a city tour of the capital of Switzerland. With its historical features intact, the Old Town of Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This afternoon, we will enjoy lunch at Kornhauskeller Restaurant, one of the most spectacular restaurants in all of Switzerland with its vaulted ceilings and frescos. This afternoon, we continue to Veytaux to visit the Chillon Castle. Excavations carried out from the end of the 19th Century affirm that this site has been occupied since the Bronze Age. Later, we arrive in the city of Montreux. We’ll have an orientation tour of the city before our arrival at our hotel. (B, L)
Day 7 – Friday, July 22 – Montreux – Broc – Gruyeres – Lavaux – Montreux
This morning we travel to Broc, home of Swiss chocolate maker, Nestle and the Nestle Cailer Chocolate Factory. Here, we’ll get to participate in an exclusive chocolate making workshop. We’ll be teaming up to make tasty Swiss chocolaty treats. We’ll be discovering the origins of chocolate and the secrets of its wonderful flavor. As the featured dish, you’ll choose your favorite ingredients and combine them with the best chocolate. For dessert, pour the mixture into a mold and decorate it to create your own masterpiece! Later, we’ll take you to Gruyeres Village. Upon arrival, walk around this pedestrian town to enjoy its medieval and charming architecture, so typically Swiss. Next we’ll visit Chardonne Village to explore the world famous Lavaux area, famous for its vineyards. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage, Lavaux is the largest contiguous vineyard region in Switzerland, and its daringly constructed hillside terraces have been protected by UNESCO since 2007. After a train ride through the village, enjoy a wine tasting at a local cellar. After, we’ll transfer back to the hotel in Montreux. This evening, join together for a Shabbat to remember, Swiss style! The remainder of the evening is free for you to enjoy. (B)
Day 8 – Saturday, July 23 – Montreux – Lausanne – Geneva
This morning, we’ll leave Montreux and make our way to Geneva, our final stop in our journey. First, we’ll visit the city of Lausanne, just across Lake Geneva. We’ll stop in the “Olympic Capital” to enjoy the breathtaking view at Leman Lake. Soon, we’ll arrive in Geneva, where we will have a city tour. Geneva prides itself as being one of the most beautiful and cultured cities in the world, combining the splendors of nature with a rich palette of historic and architectural offerings. The city is a major gateway to the Alps for outdoor enthusiasts year round. The Old City of Geneva is a pleasant combination of art galleries, bistros, antique stores, and cafes. You will have free time to take in Geneva on your own. Tonight, we, we gather together for our Amazing Farewell Event, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. (B, D)
Day 9 – Sunday, July 24 – Geneva – Tour Ends
Our tour comes to a close in Geneva. Today you’ll head home with happy memories of your amazing journey to Switzerland. (B)

Cancellation Policy: From the time of deposit until March 1, 2016, there is a $75 penalty for cancellation. From March 2 – May 10, 2016, the cancellation penalty is $550. From May 11 – June 9, 2016, the cancellation penalty is 50% of the total package price. From June 10, 2016 until the day of travel, the cancellation penalty is 100% of the total package price. Cancellations made on the day of departure and “no-shows” will receive no refund. There is no refund in the event of interruption or cancellation by the passenger after the start of the journey.
Cancellation insurance: Cancellation insurance is recommended. Information will be sent with your tour confirmation.
Flights and Transfers: International airfare is not included with the tour cost. Transfers from and to the airport are not included. Further details will be provided in the weeks prior to the tour departure.
Taxes, Service Charges, Government Fees and Gratuities: Taxes, surcharges and government fees have been included in the price of the tour and are subject to change. Gratuities have been included on this itinerary for included features. Amazing Journeys includes tips for our tour guide, local guides, drivers, servers for included meals, and baggage handling at each hotel.
Passport and Visa Requirements: A passport is necessary to travel on this itinerary. It must be valid for six months beyond the last day of the trip. At this time, no visas are necessary to enter Switzerland for those from the US, Canada or EU countries. If you are traveling to Switzerland and are a citizen of another country, please check the website for the Embassy of Switzerland to see if a visa is necessary.
Exchange Rate: If the rate of exchange between the US Dollar and the Swiss Franc is greater than 3%, we reserve the right to change the price of the tour. Once final payment is made, the price will not change.
