Head north, through plantations where the air is perfumed with sugar cane and coffee, across mountain ridges overlooking beautiful Lake Atitlan. Or cruise past volcano-guarded mountains, to the colonial capital of Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where cobblestone streets and period architecture evoke the area’s age-old Spanish colonial heritage. Tonight, we’ll have an Amazing Journeys Shabbat gathering.
Day 8 – Saturday, December 28 – Sea Day/Spa Day

Day 11 – Tuesday, December 31 – Panama Canal (Cruising)
Arrive at 6 am, Depart at 6 pm – The Panama Canal will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its extraordinary completion in 2014. The 48 mile-long international waterway known as the Panama Canal allows ships to pass between the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean, saving about 8000 miles from a journey around the southern tip of South America, Cape Horn. In 1819, Panama was part of the federation and country of Colombia but when Colombia rejected United States plans to build a canal across the Isthmus of Panama, the U.S. supported a revolution that led to the independence of Panama in 1903. Today, it takes approximately fifteen hours to traverse the canal through its three sets of locks. Being on deck to witness this remarkable engineering feat that has changed world travel and international business forever will remained forever etched in your mind. With only a few feet on either side of the ship, you will soon discover why the Panama Canal is one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World.
Day 12 – Wednesday, January 1 – Colon, Panama
Arrive at 6 am, Depart at 4 pm – As the capital of Colón Province on Panama’s central Caribbean coast, Colón lies at the very heart of the country’s rich history and innovation. It’s easy to fit in visits to sights like the Panama Railroad, Gatun Locks, and old Spanish fortress Fort San Lorenzo. In 1980, UNESCO declared Fort San Lorenzo, together with the fortified town of Portobelo about 30 miles to the northeast, to be a World Heritage Site under the name, “Fortifications on the Caribbean Side of Panama” describing the fortifications as magnificent examples of 17th- and 18th-century military architecture; forming part of the defense system built by the Spanish Crown to protect transatlantic trade.
Day 13 – Thursday, January 2 – Cartagena, Colombia
Arrive at 8:30 am, Depart at 3 pm – Cobbled streets, balconies with blooming bougainvillea, and pastel plazas make Cartagena one of Latin America’s most photogenic cities. But it’s not just another pretty seaport. Founded in 1533, this Spanish-Colonial city is steeped in history. Its location made it a popular port for plunderers and pirates. In 1984 Cartagena’s colonial walled city and fortress were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today thrill-seekers will find a perfect mix of old and new with a twist of island attitude. Fusion fare is big throughout the city. You’ll find quite a few options featuring creative delicacies combining tastes from around the world plus all the local favorites including plantains and coconut rice, and of course coffee. An exceptional example of a sustainable and productive cultural landscape that is unique and representative of a tradition that is a strong symbol for coffee growing areas worldwide, the Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia has also been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 14 – Friday, January 3 – Sea Day/Spa Day
Enjoy your first free day of the new year. Take a jog around the track, try a new restaurant, spend time with friends – it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you are having fun! Tonight, we’ll have an Amazing Journeys Shabbat gathering.
Day 15 – Saturday, January 4 – Sea Day/Spa Day
Sleep in and order room-service, go back to your favorite restaurant or relax at the spa. Soak in the final day at sea. Tonight we’ll wrap up our amazing tour with Havdallah and our famous Farewell Event; lots of fun and memories recaptured.
