After our cruise, we’ll show you more of Vietnam and take you to some of the most beautiful and cultural enriching treasures throughout Vietnam, including an overnight cruise in stunning Halong Bay.

Day 1 – Monday, November 6 – Prek Kdam, Cambodia
Today we board our river cruise ship at Prek Kdam, a small village on the Tonle River. Meet your fellow travelers at our Amazing Journeys Welcome and Orientation, followed by a special Welcome Dinner as the ship cruises to Kampong Chhnang. (D)
Day 2 – Tuesday, November 7 – Kampong Chhnang – Koh Chen
After breakfast, a local boat will take us into the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of the Tonle Sap River. Enjoy the stunning variety of bird life here, and be on the lookout for the traps used to catch fish in this area – some are over a half-mile long! In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk to the Koh Chen village. We will also visit home workshops specializing in silversmithing and copper-smithing. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Wednesday, November 8 – Oudong – Kampong Tralach – Phnom Penh
This morning we will be transferred to Oudong, the former capital of Cambodia, and tour a monastery where we will receive a special Buddhist blessing. In Kampong Tralach, we will have a truly memorable excursion – an oxcart ride through the rice paddies surrounding a small village. Later, our ship will depart for Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, where an afternoon orientation tour will give us a wonderful introduction to the city. Our tour includes a stop at Wat Phnom. Return to the ship for dinner and an onboard Khmer folk performance presented by local children. The vessel moors overnight in Phnom Penh. (B,L,D)
Day 4 – Thursday, November 9 – Phnom Penh
This morning we’ll take an excursion to Cambodia’s infamous Killing Fields and also visit the Khmer Rouge’s grim Tuol Sleng S21 detention center (Genocide Museum) just outside the city. After lunch on-board, our afternoon tour explores the highlights of the city, famous for its French colonial architecture, busy cafés and colorful nightlife. Visit the Royal Palace, the spectacular Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, which has an outstanding collection of Khmer crafts. An overnight on the waterfront provides an opportunity to dine on your own in one of many nearby restaurants, if you so choose. (B,L,D)
Day 5 – Friday, November 10 – Phnom Penh – Border Crossing – Tan Chau, Vietnam
Spend the day cruising the Mekong River and crossing the border into Vietnam. Our vessel moors midstream at the small town of Tan Chau, Vietnam. Tonight, we gather together with our Amazing Journeys community to celebrate Shabbat. (B,L,D)
Day 6 – Saturday, November 11 – Tan Chau – Sa Dec
This morning, we’ll visit Tan Chau, a small Mekong River town unspoiled by tourism. We will have the opportunity to take one of two tours this morning. Our first option to is take a traditional “xe-loi” (trishaw) ride around the town, with stops at a silk-making workshop and another that produces rattan mats and slippers. Alternatively, we will take a boat ride through the narrow channels of the Mekong River to several scenic locations, including a small village known as “Evergreen Island.” Return to Tan Chau, where we will visit workshops that make silk and rattan mats in the village. This afternoon, our ship cruises to Sa Dec, where it will moor overnight. (B,L,D)
Day 7 – Sunday, November 12 – Sa Dec – Xeo Quyt – Cia Be
In the morning, board a local boat for Sa Dec. Once ashore, we will tour the town where French writer Marguerite Duras spent many years in her youth. Visit a colorful local market, and the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, Duras’ Chinese paramour. Afterwards, board a motor coach for Xeo Quyt, once used as a base during the French and U.S. wars and now an important ecological site. After lunch on board, a local boat will take us to Cai Be’s spectacular floating market. We will also have an opportunity to visit candy and rice paper workshops. This evening, we’ll gather together for our Amazing Journeys Farewell Event, followed by a festive Farewell Dinner on board. (B,L,D)
Day 8 – Monday, November 13 – Ho Chi Minh City – Disembarkation
Our cruise comes to an end as the ship docks at My Tho Port followed by a transfer to nearby Ho Chi Minh City, still affectionately referred to by locals as Saigon. This former capital of Indochina was once known as “Paris of the Orient.” Today, Vietnam’s largest city is an industrial, cultural and educational hub but still retains vestiges of its colonial past. For those flying home today, an airport transfer can be arranged. If you are joining us on our Vietnam post-cruise tour, we will continue our amazing journey together. (B)

Cancellation Policy for Cruise, Pre-Cruise, Post-Cruise and Overnights: Prior to February 1, 2017, there is a $100 penalty for cancellation. From February 1 – July 5, 2017, the cancellation penalty is the amount of the deposit for the cruise, pre-cruise, post-cruise and overnights. From July 6 – September 5, 2017, the cancellation penalty is 50% of the total cruise, pre-cruise, post-cruise and overnights. From September 6 – October 5, 2017, the cancellation penalty is 75% of the total cruise, pre-cruise, post-cruise and overnights. Cancellations made on October 6, 2017 or after will receive no refund. There is no refund in the event of interruption or cancellation by the passenger after the start of the trip.
Roommate Matching: Roommate matching is available on the river cruise for those in Balcony Staterooms. Roommate matching is not available in a suite; however, you are able to reserve Double Occupancy if coming with a roommate. Please note, should your roommate cancel, you will be responsible for the Single Occupancy rate unless we are able to find you a roommate (if you would like one). It is important for both you and your roommate to have Travel Protection to cover this possibility.
3-Night Pre-Cruise and 7-Night Post-Cruise – Roommate matching is available.
1-Night Overnight in Cambodia and Vietnam – Roommate matching is not available. If you sign up for a Double Occupancy with a roommate and they cancel, you will be responsible for the Single Occupancy rate for the room.
Cancellation Insurance: Amazing Journeys recommends you purchase Travel Protection. Information will be sent with your trip confirmation.
Proof of Citizenship: All passengers must present a valid passport (valid for six months beyond the last date of travel) to board the vessel. At present time, visas are required on this itinerary for both Cambodia and Vietnam. More information will be provided as the final payment date approaches.
Dining Preference: This ship has an open seating policy in their dining room.
Port Taxes, Fuel Surcharges, Government Fees and Gratuities: Port taxes and government, immigration fees have been included in the rate. Gratuities are also included in the rate. Port taxes, government fees and gratuities are subject to change. Fuel surcharges were deleted from the rates due to a suspension in fees by the cruise lines. Should the cruise lines reinstate these fees, Amazing Journeys reserves the right to add them back at that time.
Air and Airport Transfers: Airfare has not been included in the cruise rates. Transfers to and from the the meeting point for the ship are available at an additional cost for those who are not on our pre- or post-cruise packages. Otherwise, transportation is included. Information will be sent as we move closer to the sailing date. It is important that you not purchase airfare until you receive a confirmation letter which will contain specific flight parameters.
