We offer two different pre-cruise options before boarding our Jewish Heritage River Cruise in Vilshofen.
Prague option:
Why are you drawn to this journey? Is it because it is a part of your Jewish history, and the history of your ancestors that you are in search of exploring? Did you hear of the rich beauty of Prague and that it is the most stunning city in all of Europe? Or, perhaps it was because culturally, it was the playground of some of the most incredible musicians including Mozart, Chopin, Smetana and Dvorak. Join us on this memorable three-day journey to Prague with its music, architecture and our Jewish roots.
Munich option:
Munich is the closest international city to Vilshofen, where our cruise begins. Join us one day early, adjust your internal clock and see Munich. • The Pincus Synagogue, a memorial to the Jews of Prague who died in the Holocaust.
• The Klausen Synagogue, where the Nazis began their exhibit: “Jewish Life from the Cradle to the Grave” in 1943.
• The Maisel Synagogue, named after a Jewish mayor of Prague, which exemplifies the Golden Age of Jewish Prague.
• The Old Cemetery, with the graves of such Jewish luminaries as Judah Loew, the Maharal, and Mordechai Maisels and the ceremonial hall with the well-known Hevra Kadisha paintings.
• The Spanish Synagogue built in 1868 on the site of the oldest Prague Jewish house of prayer (“the Old Shul”) and designed in a Moorish style by Vojtěch Ignátz Ullmann.
