Day 1 – Sunday, December 23 – Hong Kong, China
If you’re joining us on the pre-cruise, you will have the opportunity to take in as much as you can in this thrilling city with its endless shopping and towering skyscrapers. Neon signs galore, dim sum, and amazing temples are just a few of the favorite experiences in Hong Kong.
Day 2 – Monday, December 24 – Hong Kong, China
Depart at 8 pm – The most striking thing about Hong Kong is its pervasive mix of old and new. With ramshackle apartment buildings flanked by uber-modern high-rises, a rickety street-level tram clanking above a state-of-the-art subway system, and wheelbarrows being pushed through the streets alongside Rolls-Royces, Hong Kong is a study in contrasts that constantly surprise. Add the former British colony’s strange brew of Asian and Western cultures to this endless series of odd contradictions and one thing’s for certain: this is a place you’ll never get tired of exploring. Our shore excursions will include Victoria Peak, an Aberdeen Fishing Village, the Man Mo Temple and Sheung Wan Dried Food and Herbal Market. Be sure to have extra room in your suitcase for the bargains you are bound to discover.
Day 3 – Tuesday, December 25 – At Sea
Explore our home-away-from-home and get to know your fellow Amazing Journeyers as we enjoy our first day at sea. Celebrity Millennium has a ton to offer from upscale restaurants, live music, enrichment programs, the ultra relaxing “Aqua Spa”, large casino, indoor and outdoor pools, dance classes and more . So learn your way and join in on some of our group exclusive events and gear up for a great vacation of adventure, exploration and good times.
Day 4 – Wednesday, December 26 – Hanoi (Halong Bay), Vietnam
Arrive at 7 am – In Hanoi, the country’s captivating capital, you’ll find a blend of Parisian grace and Asian pace. Rise early to watch t’ai chi practiced at dawn near Hoan Kiem Lake, then take in the history with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the bustling back streets of the Old Quarter. Eventually, you’ll be enticed to visit the country’s northern provinces. Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of Halong Bay and its 2,000 limestone karsts, nor the experience of trekking around mountainous Sapa.
Day 5 – Thursday, December 27 – Hanoi (Halong Bay), Vietnam
Depart at 1 pm – As Vietnam’s capital city for almost a thousand years, Hanoi has long been considered the country’s cultural center. This charming, slow-paced hub is located on the right bank of the Red River and close to many of Vietnam’s natural wonders, such as the spectacular Halong Bay. Hanoi’s many museums, embassies and holy shrines to the late Ho Chi Minh reveal the rich history left behind by its storied dynasties. However, with new high-rises going up, and cars and motorbikes multiplying daily, it is also a city on the verge of new things to come. Life in Hanoi is getting faster all the time.
Day 6 – Friday, December 28 – Hue/Danang (Chan May), Vietnam
Arrive at 8 am, depart at 7 pm – The Nguyen Dynasty founded this former capital in the 17th century on the banks of the Perfume River. Today it sits as a massive open-air museum of temples, pagodas, palaces and tombs. Choose to explore the Imperial Citadel, or take a river cruise for a view of the Tombs of the Emperors and Thien Mu Pagoda. Pago Pago is the main settlement on Tutuila, surrounded by peaks rising out of a deepwater harbor rimmed with palm-shaded beaches. Tonight, join together with the group for an Amazing Journeys Shabbat.
Day 7 – Saturday, December 29 – At Sea
Today you’ll get to enjoy all you came on a cruise to do… relax poolside with your new friends while sipping a Pina Colada or a Singapore Sling, enjoy learning about the different destinations with onboard enrichment programs, de-stress with a hot stone massage or participate in our onboard Amazing Journeys programs.
Day 8 – Sunday, December 30 – Ho Chi Minh City (Phu My), Vietnam
Arrive at 7 am – Still called Saigon by the locals and located on the edge of the Mekong Delta, this dynamic metropolis features the ageless beauty of an ancient culture. French colonial architecture mixes with modern Asian influences, providing a diverse backdrop for the many motorbikes, scooters, pagodas, and street markets. Stroll the wide boulevards of this city and visit The History Museum, which houses artifacts from two thousand years of Vietnamese history.
Day 9 – Monday, December 31 – Ho Chi Minh City (Phu My), Vietnam
Depart at 6 pm – Immerse yourself in the essence of Vietnam. The air is filled with the cries of street hawkers and honking horns. Swarms of motorbikes buzz down the crowded streets balancing every sort of cargo imaginable—from clinging families to coops of live chickens. And everywhere, friendly faces and warm greetings meet you. Tonight, gear up for an evening full of New Year’s Eve festivities. The celebrations will start early as we count down to 2013. The ship’s bars and clubs will be partying into the wee hours of the night, so we’ll have lots of choices to dance the night away and ring in an amazing2013!
Day 10 – Tuesday, January 1 – At Sea
Happy New Year! Spend the day relaxing poolside with your friends while enjoying your favorite beverage as you share your favorite experiences of the trip so far. Enjoy a massage at the spa, participate in wine tasting or pilates. Choose to do it all, or nothing at all. It’s your vacation, and we want you to enjoy it as you please!
Day 11 – Wednesday, January 2 – Bangkok/Laemchabang, Thailand
Arrive at 7 am – Bangkok is a city filled with high-rise buildings and popular clubs, golden temples and lively street fairs. A visit to the National Museum is great for history buffs, while shoppers will love the bargains in the Banglamphu district. Klong Toey, in central Bangkok, features a highly discounted market offering fresh eel, dried fish, and filled with sights, sounds and smells of this waterfront-pier area.
Day 12 – Thursday, January 3 – Bangkok/Laemchabang, Thailand
Depart at 5 pm – Drink up views of the former capital’s crumbling city walls. Take a shore excursion to explore the grandeur of temples such as Wat Mongkhon Bophit, which was built to protect one of the country’s largest bronze Buddhas, a statue that dates to the 15th century. Visit the Royal Palace. Marvel at stately temples and lively markets and observe Thailand’s exquisite natural beauty.
Day 13 – Friday, January 4 – At Sea
Enjoy another day at sea with a plethora of onboard activities. As a member of Amazing Journeys, you will delight in all the choices and added enhancements we provide. Tonight, we’ll have an Amazing Journeys Shabbat gathering, followed by our Farewell Event.
Day 14 – Saturday, January 5 – Singapore
Arrive at 3 pm – At first glance, this diamond-shaped island off the coast of Malaysia gleams with modernism and commercialism, making it seem more Western than Eastern. But as you continue to discover the city-state, you’ll uncover the eclectic mix of cultures, religions, ancient treasures and British colonial impressions that give rise to a unique Singaporean identity. Boasting mouthwatering cuisine, incredible shopping, and a thriving arts scene, this island is an exhilarating blend of cultures. The cultural fusion is perhaps best expressed in Singapore’s unofficial language, Singlish, a unique patois of English, Chinese and Malay.
Day 15 – Sunday, January 6 – Singapore
Disembark am – Soak in the last of your Asian experience as we head home, taking with us new friends and memories of a fabulous vacation.
