Your journey through France isn’t over yet! After disembarking the ship in Lyon, enjoy some free time before experiencing a cooking demonstration of regional cuisine and culinary techniques. Travel like the French do, and take the TGV high-speed train to Paris. Once you arrive in the famous “City of Lights,” check into your hotel for our first of three nights in Paris. (B)
Friday, November 6
This morning it’s your choice! Visit the Musée d’Orsay as we explore one of the finest collections of Impressionist paintings in the world. Our local expert will guide us through famous works such as Van Gogh’s Self Portrait and Starry Night Over the Rhone, Manet’s Olympia and Luncheon on the Grass, Monet’s Houses of Parliament, and many more, teaching us about the Impressionist movement throughout our tour. The collection is a who’s who of the biggest names in late 19th-century European art, so whether you are a seasoned art lover or want to view the most interesting and important works of French Impressionism, your experience will be educational and unforgettable Take in the jaw-dropping Main Hall with its towering beaux-arts ceiling vaults, and learn how it went from being a train station to having the preeminent collection of Impressionist paintings on earth.
Alternatively, take in the signature sites of Paris on your guided city panoramic tour, including the awe-inspiring Arc de Triomphe and iconic Eiffel Tower. You’ll see Champs Élysées with its cinemas, sidewalk cafes and luxury specialty shops. Stroll through Place de la Concorde, the left bank, Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter, and more quintessential Paris sites.
The afternoon is yours to explore Paris at your leisure. Perhaps you’ll visit the world-renowned Louvre Museum, stroll through the Tuileries Garden, take in the city views from atop the Arc de Triomphe, go shopping in the Faubourg Saint-Honoré district or spend the day like a local – by scoping out a local café for a café au lait, toasted baguette or croissant.

Saturday, November 7
Today, enjoy one of our specialty tours in Le Marais neighborhood of Paris – either a Jewish Walking Tour or a Foodie Walking Tour. Explore the Jewish Quarter located in the heart of Paris, the “Pletzl”, which has been the center of Jewish life in Paris since the 13th century. While walking in the paved narrow streets of Le Marais, learn about the history of the Jewish communities in Paris for more than 2,000 years. We will talk about the history of the Jews in the Middle Ages, when they were persecuted and expelled from the country in 1394. Learn about the time of the French Revolution, and the occupation of Paris during WWII, and you will have the chance to discover some hidden places that only locals know about.
Or discover Paris’ culinary soul as we journey into the heart of French cuisine—where every bite has a story, every flavor a history, and every stop a connection to the culture that shaped it. Paris comes alive at the table—and no neighborhood captures its flavor like the Marais. Here, centuries of history and layers of culture blend together in tiny bakeries, bustling markets, family-run bistros, and cozy wine bars. Taste 11+ dishes across 8 curated stops for example buttery croissants, artisan chocolates, a chickpea crêpe from a market legend, classic pastrami sandwich in the Jewish Quarter, creamy French cheeses, a soulful bistro lunch, Middle Eastern-inspired pastries, and a final toast with natural wine.
In the evening, visit Montmartre, long known as the city’s premier artist’s enclave. During the mid to late 1800s, artists also began calling Montmartre home. Pissarro and Jongkind were two of the first to live there, followed by other notable artists, including Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Toulouse-Lautrec, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Pablo Picasso. Hop aboard the funicular railroad that ascends the hill. You’ll spot the white dome of the Basilica du Sacré-Coeur, which sits at the highest point in the city. This morning our journey comes to an end as we say goodbye to Paris and head back home with memories of our amazing journey. After breakfast, transfer on your own to the airport, based on the time of your flight home. (B)

From February 24, 2026 – April 23, 2026, the cancellation penalty is the amount of the deposit for the cruise, pre-cruise and post-cruise packages and for any additional pre-/post-nights reserved. From April 24 – July 24, 2026 the cancellation penalty is 50% of the cost of the cruise, pre-cruise and post-cruise packages and for any additional pre-/post-nights reserved. From July 25 – August 26, 2026 the cancellation penalty is 75% of the cost of the cruise, pre-cruise and post-cruise packages and for any additional pre-/post-nights reserved. From August 27, 2026 until the day of travel, the cancellation penalty is 100% of the cost of the cruise, pre-cruise and post-cruise packages and for any additional pre-/post-nights reserved. Cancellations made on the day of departure and “no-shows” will receive no refund. There is no refund in the event of interruption or cancellation by the passenger after the start of the journey. Proof of Citizenship: A passport is necessary to travel on this itinerary. It must be valid for six months beyond the last day of the trip. If the name on your passport differs from the name on your registration form, a name change fee may be incurred. If you are arriving from the US, Canada, Australia, UK, please note that beginning sometime in the fall of 2026, travelers will likely need an ETIAS waiver to travel to Europe. Please note that visa information is subject to change at any time and it is up to the individual traveling to stay current on visa requirements.
This trip is for you: This trip is for you if love to discover off-the beaten path destinations, and walking and standing for 2-3 hours isn’t a big deal. All travelers should be able to walk at a moderate pace, covering several miles, hills and uneven surfaces and can easily climb stairs. You can navigate hills and uneven/wet ground independently, climb up and into various modes of transportation including boats and trains and can handle changes in elevation as high as 2000 feet. Some tours are “active”, including hiking and biking opportunities. In some ports, a tour may be offered for those who prefer to move at a slower pace. You can expect several early mornings and some longer days balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. You must be in good health and prepare properly. This trip is not a fit for those who require assistance with walking or who travel on mobility devices.
Dining Onboard: Our ship offers open seating for dinner at 7:00pm. In addition to the main restaurant, there is a specialty restaurant and themed-night dinners. Daily afternoon tea with tea, coffee, sandwiches and desserts are served. There is an early risers Coffee & Croissants served, festive lunches and a Captain’s Gala and Farewell Dinner.
Vaccines & Precautions: At this time there are no specific vaccinations required for international travelers. We recommend visiting a travel clinic or see your health professional to be sure you are up to date on vaccinations needed for international travel. Requirements can change at any time. Please note that our Amazing Journeys staff are not medical professionals and therefore are unable to give specific information on vaccinations or medications you may need for this or any other tour.
Taxes, Fees & Gratuities: Taxes, surcharges, and government fees are subject to change. Gratuities have been included on this tour and include tips for all river cruise staff including the Cruise Manager, local guides, specialty guides, drivers, luggage porters and included meals. Gratuities are not included for housekeeping staff in the hotels and tipping is at your discretion.
Flights: It is important that you not purchase airfare until you receive a Confirmation Letter from Amazing Journeys. Flights for this itinerary will be available beginning in December.
- Pre-Cruise Package: Land at the Nice Airport (airport code NCE) before 3:30pm on October 26. Our first pre-cruise program will begin that evening with a Group Welcome Dinner.
- Cruise (without Pre-Cruise Package): Land at Marseilles Airport (airport code MRS) on October 29 in advance of the AmaWaterways optional transfers so that you can easily get to the ship. Transfer times and costs are listed below or you may instead choose to arrange for your own transportation. Our first program will begin at 7:00pm with a Group Welcome Dinner.
- Return from Cruise (without Post-Cruise Package): Fly home from Lyon (airport code LYS) or Paris (airport code CDG) on November 5 at the time suggested by AmaWaterways if using one of AmaWaterways optional transfers (see below for details and pricing) or you may choose to arrange for your own transfers.
- Post-Cruise Package: Depart from Paris (airport code CDG) any time after 9:00am on November 8.
Transfers: Transfers between the airports and hotels/ship are not included. For those travelers on our French Riviera Pre-Cruise Package, a transfer is included from our Pre-Cruise to the ship. For those travelers on our Paris Post-Cruise Package, transfers are included between the ship in Lyon and our hotel in Paris, including the TGV train ride.
For those not taking an Amazing Journeys pre-cruise or post-cruise package, transfer pricing from AmaWaterways is as follows. An opportunity to purchase transfers will be offered closer to the date of sailing.

- This is a full-day transfer and includes a transfer from the ship to the Lyon train station with a French Market visit enroute, free time for lunch followed by an early afternoon two-hour TGV train ride to Paris, then transfer to the AmaWaterways hotel where you will make your own arrangements to the Charles De Gaulle (CDG) airport.
Twin Accommodations: Twin accommodations are available if you and a friend are traveling together. Amazing Journeys takes no responsibility for roommate matching and is unable to step in to settle disputes or disagreements that may arise. When signing up for twin occupancy, should one of the roommates cancel their reservation or switch to a Single accommodation before the trip, the remaining traveling roommate will assume the cost of a single supplement. Fuel Surcharge: Should oil costs go above $65 a barrel and the cruise line adjusts the rate of the cruise or tour costs accordingly, we reserve the right to adjust the cost of the cruise/tour.
Exchange Rate: In the case of currency fluctuations greater than 3%, we reserve the right to adjust our pricing accordingly in order that we may be able to operate the cruise and tours effectively.
