Day 1 – Monday, August 7 – Depart Copenhagen, Denmark
Embark Regal Princess, depart at 6 pm – Our cruise and your Amazing Journey begins today. Get to know your fellow traveling companions as we gather poolside for a sailaway celebration, followed by our Welcome Aboard program and group ice breaker. A group dinner onboard the beautiful Regal Princess will follow.
Day 2 – Tuesday, August 8 – Oslo, Norway
Arrive at 10 am, depart at 11 pm – Welcome to Oslo, Scandinavia’s oldest capital city. The city boasts a sophisticated, yet cozy charm, with a blend of 19th- and 20th-century buildings, many decorated with woodcarvings and bright frescoes, and wide avenues dotted with public squares and parks.
Day 3 – Wednesday, August 9 – At Sea
Cruising – Today you’ll get to enjoy all you came on a cruise to do… relax poolside with your new friends while sipping a daiquiri, try your luck in the casino or enjoy the spa. Our day at sea will provide lots of opportunities for great times on our floating resort. Tonight, we’ll come together for an Amazing Journeys cocktail party, followed by an amazing show in the theater and late night dancing.
Day 4 – Thursday, August 10 – Berlin (Warnemunde), Germany
Arrive at 7 am, depart at 9 pm – With its field of new skyscrapers, hip clubs and fashion boutiques, post-millennium Berlin has recast itself as Europe’s capital of cool. However, make no mistake, Berlin is not exactly escaping the past. Instead, Berlin is reconciling itself to its notorious history and moving with confidence into its future. Berlin was almost bombed out of existence during World War II; its streets reduced to piles of rubble, its parks to muddy swampland. But the optimistic spirit and strength of will of the remarkable Berliners enabled them to survive not only the wartime destruction of their city, but also its postwar division, symbolized by the Berlin Wall. Today, structures of steel and glass tower over streets where before only piles of rubble lay, and parks and gardens are again lush.
Day 5 – Friday, August 11 – At Sea
Cruising – Our day at sea will provide lots of opportunities for great times on our floating resort. Enjoy a massage at the spa, participate in wine tasting or yoga – the day is yours to recharge. Later, join us for “Jacuzz-a-Palooza” with your new friends. Tonight, join together with others from our group for a Kabbalat Shabbat service at sea.
Day 6 – Saturday, August 12 – Tallinn, Estonia
Arrive at 8 am, depart at 5 pm – Tallinn is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Northern Europe, and makes a beautiful impression from the sea, with its ancient city walls, church spires, and the red-tile roofed homes. Located on the Baltic Sea, only about 37 miles across the Gulf of Finland from Helsinki, Estonia spent two centuries as one of Russia’s Baltic Provinces before becoming an independent republic in 1918. Just a little over two decades later, it fell back under Russian control when Soviet troops rolled in and incorporated the country into the Soviet Union. It became independent again in 1991. Tallinn, a UNESCO world heritage site, was founded in the 12th century and has been under the rule of Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and Russia, and all have left their mark on the city’s architecture.
Day 7 – Sunday, August 13 – St. Petersburg, Russia
Arrive at 6:30 am – This city has been through a lot of changes since it was founded three centuries ago. From St. Petersburg to Petrograd to Leningrad and back to St. Petersburg, its name change is the least of the changes. From being ruled by czars to communism to democracy, Russia’s political status is in a constant state of change. In 1991, the city, under the new non-communist Russian government, returned to its original name and today the one-time capital of Imperial Russia is a cosmopolitan city of five million that’s both an industrial and cultural center. It is the second largest city in Russia and the country’s largest port. With the city’s historical sites such as the world-famous Hermitage Museum and the immaculate Winter Palace, we know you will love St. Petersburg.
Day 8 – Monday, August 14 – St. Petersburg, Russia
Depart at 6 pm – Russia’s “Window on the West,” St. Petersburg remains one of the world’s most beautiful metropolises. Perched on the banks of the Neva, the city is crisscrossed by canals. St. Petersburg has all the ingredients for an unforgettable travel experience: high art, lavish architecture, wild nightlife, an extraordinary history and rich cultural traditions that have inspired and nurtured some of the modern world’s greatest literature, music, and visual art.
Day 9 – Tuesday, August 15 – Helsinki, Finland
Arrive at 7 am, depart at 4 pm – Although not technically in Scandinavia, Helsinki acts very Scandinavian. The city was founded by Swedes in 1550 and became the capital of Finland in 1812. Today, Helsinki is a business and industrial center, and is also an intellectual town with a major university and many cultural institutions. Locals still refer to it as a “big village,” but the city is actually a pretty sophisticated place, offering tourists a clean environment with nice harbor views, lots of shopping opportunities and is notable for its parks and squares and its neoclassical city buildings dating from the 19th century.
Day 10 – Wednesday, August 16 – Stockholm (Nynashamn), Sweden
Arrive at 7 am, depart at 7 pm – There is more to Sweden than IKEA… we promise! Welcome to the Venice of the North! Stockholm is a capital city on the Baltic Sea made of an archipelago of about 24,000 islands and is positioned where fresh water and salt water meet. We will be able to see breathtaking views of the islands from the ship in the early morning hours upon our arrival into Stockholm. With almost 800 years of history, it is the cultural, political, and economic center of Sweden with a modern flair that should not be missed.
Day 11 – Thursday, August 17 – At Sea
Cruising – Spend the day relaxing poolside with your friends, enjoy a massage at the spa, participate in pilates – choose to do it all, or nothing at all. It’s your vacation, and we want you to enjoy every minute of it! Tonight, join together with others from our group for our Amazing Journeys Farewell.
Day 12 – Friday, August 18 – Copenhagen, Denmark
Arrive at 5 am – Our cruise ends here. You’ll take home memories of your experience in Scandinavia and Russia, plus friendships to last a lifetime. Or, continue along with us to Reykjavik for two nights!
