Thursday, December 21
Arrive in Singapore today and check into your hotel. This evening, those who are ready to dive in can meet as a group and explore a fun area of town together (pay your way for dinner and transportation).
Friday, December 22
Enjoy a buffet breakfast at our hotel before exploring Singapore. We’ll start by driving around the Civic District, passing by the Padang, Cricket Club, historic Parliament House and National Gallery Singapore. The Gallery consists of two national monuments – the former Supreme Court Building and City Hall. We will stop at Merlion Park and enjoy the impressive views of Marina Bay. Next, take a Bumboat cruise on the Singapore River, marveling at the extravagant contrast between the richly-mellowed old architecture and the strikingly modern skyline while learning the pivotal role the Singapore River played in bringing about the phenomenally exceptional economic and social progress tiny Singapore has made in a short period of time. Admire magnificent colonial government buildings that reflect Singapore’s colonial heritage and fall in love with century-old go-downs and shop houses restored to their original grandeur and rejuvenated into some of the most enchanting and chic quayside dining and entertainment destinations. Later, we’ll explore the fascinating story and precious heritage of Singapore’s Jewish community visiting iconic Jewish buildings and rarities in Singapore like the Maghain Aboth Synagogue, the oldest surviving synagogue in Southeast Asia, the old Jewish Quarter Mahallah, historic David Ellias and Ellison buildings and sites with Jewish connections. Last on the tour, visit Little India with its cacophony of sights, sounds and scents, authentic restaurants, and shopping. You have some free time to explore the area or get some snacks before transferring back to the hotel. The afternoon is free for you to explore Singapore and this evening, we join together for a group dinner at local Chinese restaurant. This evening, you are in store for a treat as we experience the Gardens By the Bay Rhapsody Light Show. Lights and music transform the iconic Supertrees at the Gardens by the Bay. This visual extravaganza brings a touch of sparkle to the towering structures, dressing them up in colors and bathed in music. (B, D)
Saturday, December 23
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, we will visit Thian Hock Keng Temple, one of Singapore’s oldest Buddhist-Taoist temples, before driving past Chinatown. The next stop is Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Singapore Botanic Gardens. We will have the chance to walk through the National Orchid Garden which boasts a sprawling display of 60,000 orchid plants. After, we will transfer to the cruise pier where we will board our ship for an amazing 12-night cruise through Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. (B)
