Day 3 – Monday, December 23 – Montevideo, Uruguay
Arrive 8:30 am, depart 7 pm – Nestled between the continent’s two giants, Brazil and Argentina, Uruguay is the second smallest country in South America. The capital of Uruguay, Montevideo is one of South America’s most interesting and cosmopolitan capitals, offering a bustling city center with inviting open-air cafés and incredible gardens. Memorable photos are yours for the taking in the European-style squares and is on some of the continent’s most glorious beaches. We’ll show you Jewish life and visit one of Montevideo’s many synagogues.
Day 4 – Tuesday, December 24 – Punta Del Este, Uruguay
Arrive at 7 am, depart at 6 pm – If South America had purposely created a place to compete with the Riviera, this would be it. Known as the “Saint-Tropez of Latin America,” Punta del Este is a favorite summer playground of the rich and famous of South America, with 20-miles of pristine shoreline offering two distinctly different types of beaches. Carelessly browse through the chic shops and galleries of Calle Gorlero or spend an idle afternoon people-watching from a beachside cafe while the sun-lovers and jet-setters around you enjoy one of the continent’s most storied surroundings.
Day 5 – Wednesday, December 25 – At Sea

Plus, we’ll have some group activities to make your day even more enjoyable. Our day at sea will provide lots of opportunities for great times on our floating resort. Tonight, we’ll come together for an Amazing Journeys cocktail party, followed by an amazing show in the theater and late night dancing.

Arrive at 8 am, depart at 5:30 pm – Founded in 1865 by Welsh immigrants, Puerto Madryn is your gateway to one of South America’s largest breeding grounds for birds and mammals – Tombo National Reserve. The glacier-dotted land resembles a moonscape. Alternatively, you may choose to visit Península Valdés, a wildlife sanctuary where vast numbers of sea elephants, whales and penguins far outnumber the few human visitors who make it out this far. Tonight, join us for an Amazing Journeys Shabbat gathering, followed by a group dinner.

Cruising – Spend the day relaxing poolside with your friends while enjoying your favorite beverage as you share your most exciting experiences. It’s your vacation, and we want you to enjoy it as you please!
Day 9 – Sunday, December 29 – Cape Horn, Chile
Cruising – This morning, you are in for a treat as we “round the Horn” and see the tip of the continent of South America (weather permitting). Here you’ll find Horn Island, the southernmost point of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago – and of the Americas. Wildlife is abundant here, and our on board naturalist will be on hand to point out the highlights of this diverse ecosystem. Tierra del Fuego, Land of Fire, is the most isolated place in the Americas and Cape Horn is its southernmost point. These craggy cliffs and windswept shores are stark, creating a dramatic setting for the collision between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Day 10 – Monday, December 30 – Ushuaia, Argentina
Arrive at 7 am, depart at 4 pm – Dramatic, fantastical, otherworldly – this is the real end of the world. Positioned at the southernmost tip of Argentina, this memorable port town is cradled between the towering Martial Mountains and accessed by the picturesque Beagle Channel. Ushuaia is the capital of the Tierra del Fuego region, which is best described as a spectacular collection of natural wonders. It is a kaleidoscope of glittering glaciers, snowcapped mountains, dense forests, sparkling lakes and windswept plains. Even the scientifically inclined Charles Darwin must have had a difficult time leaving this Eden during his travels through the area. The town itself is a maze of streets lined with low-slung buildings that welcomed missionaries, gold prospectors and naval officers before becoming known primarily as a penal colony. The Train Ride at the End of the World or hiking through bogs are some of the optional tours offered.
Day 11 – Tuesday, December 31 – Punta Arenas, Chile
Arrive at 9 am, depart at 6:30 pm – If Punta Arenas exudes an “edge of the world” air, it’s not without reason. This windblown city near Chile’s southernmost tip sits on the Strait of Magellan, which itself is positioned squarely between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. From penguin spotting on Isla Magdalena and kayaking the Strait of Magellan to visiting area farms and then indulging in surf-and-turf specialties (here meaning fresh seafood and asado, or Chilean barbecue) at local restaurants, Punta Arenas is an incredible place to visit. A sprawling metropolis on the edge of the Americas, Punta Arenas showcases an unusual combination of the ruddy and the grand. This evening, celebrate New Year’s Eve on board our floating resort where parties abound! Grab a glass of champagne, hop on the dance floor with your friends and celebrate sailing into 2020!
Day 12 – Wednesday, January 1 – Strait of Magellan
Cruising – Start the new year off with some incredible beauty! This 360-mile strait is named for the ambitious Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan, who sought a way to circumnavigate the globe. You’ll retrace his route as you make the only available crossing between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, with the exception of the Panama Canal. The views from the ship are incredible and whether you view them from the main deck, your balcony, the windows in the gym or while sipping a latte inside, you are sure to be amazed!
Day 13 – Thursday, January 2 – Chilean Fjords
Cruising – These are some of the most magnificent fjords in the world. As your eyes work their way up the jagged walls of mammoth glaciers, you may be rewarded with an Andean condor sighting. On the ocean’s surface, the Magellan penguins always put on a good show. Later, enjoy Jacuzz-a-Palooza with your new friends, try your luck in the casino, take in a lecture and learn about your surroundings or enjoy a Broadway Style show this evening. This evening, enjoy dinner in the main dining room or join your friends to try an optional specialty restaurant onboard.
Day 14 – Friday, January 3 – Puerto Montt, Chile
Arrive at 8 am, depart at 5 pm – Puerto Montt is your gateway to Chile’s magnificent Lake District. Here, snow-capped volcanoes gaze down on alpine valleys nestled among low hills. Glaciers carved out this terrain, leaving the jewel-like lakes in their wake. Imagine sipping fine Chilean wine or hiking the beautiful countryside. Tonight, join us for an Amazing Journeys Shabbat, Chilean-style!
Day 15 – Saturday, January 4 – At Sea
Cruising – Today is the last day to soak in your South American experience so take it all in on this final day at sea. Enjoy the beauty as we sail through the ocean and come together this evening for our Amazing Journeys Farewell event before our final group dinner.
Day 16 – Sunday, January 5 – San Antonio, Chile
Arrive at 5 am – Our cruise ends here. You’ll take home memories of amazing sites and scenes from South America, plus friendships to last a lifetime. Not ready to leave yet?
